Somebody needs a little meat on their bones!
Q: What was the largest raptor? -Irvine
A: This is probably the scariest dinosaur that ever walked the earth. Remember when I said T-Rex was the scariest? Well, Utahraptor would give it some pretty good competition! At 21 ft (7m) long and 6.6 ft (2m) tall, it was easily the biggest raptor of them all. The raptors you saw in Jurassic Park weren’t velociraptors, but they weren’t even as big as these guys.

Like other raptors, Utahraptor had a big ol’ claw coming out of its foot that it used to slice open its prey. The largest claws could reach up to 9.4 in (23.9 cm)! Not only was it long, it was thick too. While one Utahraptor was insanely dangerous on its own, a small group of them could take down any dinosaur that ever existed.

Q: How did Raptors eggs looked like? – Cos
A: Well Cos, something like this…

These are a set of raptor eggs from the Cretaceous time period, found in China. What do you think?
Contrary to the image of raptors as cruel and merciless, young raptor fossils show that they were proportionally smaller and had bigger eyes than adults. This suggests to paleontologists that they were fed and cared for by their parents for at least a short time after their birth.

Velociraptor mongoliensis
Q: What was the fastest raptor? – Sludge
A: Well Sludge, all of the raptors were very fast creatures. Their speed is what gave them such a distinct advantage as predators since they weren’t as big as a Tyrannosaurus Rex or an Allosaurus. Not surprisingly, one of the smallest raptors was probably the fastest.
You all know who I’m talking about. I’m talking about the feared velociraptor. It is estimated that a velociraptor could run up to 40 mph (60km/hr) for short bursts at a time. That is about as fast as an ostrich can run.
Do me a favor. Close your eyes and imagine an ostrich. Now imagine that ostrich with razor sharp teeth and a giant talon on it’s foot, kicking at you. Scared yet?

Nigel Marven stares down Arthropleura (From BBC’s Prehistoric Park)
As per request of Irvine, today we’re going to talk about Arthropleura, an ancient insect that would make your sister’s skin crawl if she ever saw one. The thought of it makes my skin crawl, for that matter. This prehistoric creepy crawly existed during the Upper Carboniferous (340-280 million years ago) and is the largest known land invertebrate of all time.
Arthropleura moved quickly through the forest floor, swerving around to avoid trees and rocks. Although the fossil record doesn’t give any evidence it is assumed that it had very powerful jaws. It was able to grow so huge in size because of how much extra oxygen was in the air at that time period of Earth. I’d tell you more but I have shivers running up my spine just thinking about it. Thanks for the question Irvine!

Sign up for best cave compation who will win?
Time again for the weekly BEST CAVE COMPETITION!
We’ll be judging your caves on Thursday so sign up on this post with your Webosaurs name and we’ll stop by your pad.
This week’s theme is: VIDEO GAMES!
Yes, Video Games Day was last Saturday but we’re such gamers here at Webosaurs that we couldn’t pass up one last opportunity. Deck out your cave in a way that shows your love for video games, be as creative as you can!
Dino of day

Hopefully Diplodocus didn’t have the tail whip action!
Q: Which dinosaur had the longest tail? -Jemster
A: Great question Jemster! To find the answer we have to travel to what is now western North America during the Jurassic period. Diplodocus is probably the stereotypical sauropod dinosaur. Tall and big (10-16 tons), Diplodocus is the most displayed dinosaur of any other.
It also happens to have the longest tail of all the dinosaurs. In fact, at 43 ft (13m) long, its tail was the longest of any animal that ever walked the earth. Poor guy, if there is one thing we’ve learned in Webosaurs its that it is always the tail. He must have had a rough go!
Remember, if you have any questions about dinosaurs at all you can ask them in the comments. I will pick one a day and answer.
!?!~Demo~!?!
